Responsibilities

  • Coordinates all dialysis staff between hospitals to ensure all patient treatments are staffed appropriately for both PD and HD
  • Ensures efficient use of staff to maintain low to no overtime within the region to cover dialysis treatments for both PD and HD
  • Function as a liaison with all nephrologist; coordinate with all nephrologist on patient schedules for HD & PD treatments
  • Ensures appropriate medical practitioner are notified for any problems that occur during dialysis treatments
  • Notifies medical director(s) as indicated in PAM policies and procedures
  • Communicate effectively with all hospital leadership, navigators and admissions team regarding available dialysis staff, daily patient census and how many patients can be accommodated
  • Work with hospital leadership & dialysis team to determine how additional patients can be admitted in the region (cohorting, changing patient schedules, coming off isolation, etc.)
  • Prepares monthly staff schedules and “Call” schedules; shares schedules with hospital CNOs and floor staff
  • Ensures staff adhere to all approved dialysis policies and procedures
  • Ensures all equipment has required biological testing, preventative maintenance and disinfections
  • Ensures quality audits are completed monthly per PAM dialysis program standards; Ensures QAPI workbooks are completed for each hospital
  • Ensures each hospital maintains acceptable PAR levels of dialysis supplies for both PD and HD; works with hospital material managers
  • Ensures hospitals do not “over order” dialysis supplies and efficiently utilizes supplies
  • Functions as a dialysis point of contact to address any patient complaints regarding dialysis services
  • Develops region staff as a cohesive team to support each other
  • Provides dialysis treatments (HD & PD) when needed
  • Ensures staff are completing plans of care for every dialysis patient
  • Develops education topics for all staff to review with patients during treatment.
  • Performs other position-related duties as assigned
  • Serves in an on-call capacity to respond to unforeseen circumstances or emergencies; this may include traveling to more than one hospital to provide dialysis therapy

Qualifications

Education and Training:

  • State license to practice nursing.
  • Certification through the Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC) is preferred but not required.
  • Proven experience working as a Dialysis Nurse.
  • Prior management experience of >1year preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred but not required.

Experience: Five (5) years of dialysis experience
